What is Neurofeedback?
Click to watch this video explaining Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a process in which information from the brain is accessed and presented back to the brain, allowing it (for the first time) to witness its own activity – to see itself in a mirror. Through this feedback loop encouragement is provided so the brain directs itself to a more favorable neurological choice. When repeated several times this more favorable choice becomes the new norm.
Our nervous systems are always striving to keep us functioning optimally. We often get stuck, however, in dysfunctional modes of mood and behavior. Our goal with neurofeedback is to allow the nervous system to calm down then reset itself onto a better neurological pathway.
More About Sally
Sally Gordon is an outpatient therapist in Charlotte, NC specializing in adoption, attachment and the treatment of developmental trauma.
Adoptive families are often frustrated and sometimes frightened by their children's behaviors. Sally is keenly versed in the psychological issues and unique social/emotional challenges adopted children present. Most of the children Sally treats have spent time in an orphanage or in the foster care system, although a small percentage have been adopted at birth. The children learned not to rely on adults as a result of early deprivation. This makes parenting a challenge! Psychoeducation, support, therapy and neurofeedback are essential tools in creating healthy families.

Sally is trained in the Othmer method of Neurofeedback. This modality is the recommended treatment of choice per Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, renowned trauma expert, for developmental trauma which is often an issue for adopted children. Neurofeedback is also very effective with ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, addictions, migraines and many more conditions affecting the central nervous system, both in children and adults.

Now Medication Free
""My daughter was diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD at the end of her eighth grade year. She was prescribed Zoloft and Concerta, but she still had issues with anger, self-regulating and social anxiety. We began attachment therapy and Neurofeedback and now she is medication free and does much better overall socially and emotionally."
